Farmgain's Dr John Jagwe developed a protocol for monitoring prices and trade volumes at cross-border markets and this methodology has been disseminated to 26 cross-border monitors in 5 countries in the Horn of Africa.

The protocol is entitled ‘Regional Inter-Agency Market Monitoring Analysis Tool in the Horn of Africa’. This protocol has been adopted by the Food Security& Nutrition Working Group (FSNWG) which comprises of FAO, WFP, FEWSNET (Famine Early Warning System) and EAGC (Eastern Africa Grain Council).
